Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Azure Data Engineer to join the Landmark Digital Data Team. The role entails designing, deploying, and refining robust data solutions utilizing Azure's comprehensive technology stack. Key responsibilities include creating efficient ETL pipelines through Azure Data Factory, ensuring data integrity within Azure Data Lake, and implementing advanced stored procedures using Azure Databricks or Synapse to handle significant data volumes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize comprehensive data engineering solutions with 6 to 8 years of relevant experience.
- Develop data manipulation and transformation routines using programming languages such as Python, SQL, and Scala.
- Apply expertise in data modelling, warehousing, and integration to build scalable data architectures.
- Implement data governance practices, focusing on data quality and security standards.
- Create and maintain efficient ETL pipelines using Azure Data Factory, managing data storage with Azure Data Lake.
- Leverage complex stored procedures within Azure Databricks to support advanced analytics on datasets exceeding 50TB.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate data-driven projects, utilizing Azure Synapse Analytics to generate actionable insights.
- Utilize knowledge of the retail industry to tailor data solutions addressing specific retail challenges.
- Enhance data platform performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency using services like Azure Data Lake Storage and Azure SQL Database.
- Develop integrations and data visualization solutions using Power BI, Qlik, Data API Builder, and Logic Apps.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data platform performance issues, providing solutions and recommendations for continual improvements.
- Coordinate with DevOps teams to automate deployment, configuration, and monitoring via Azure DevOps, PowerShell, or similar tools.
- Keep abreast of emerging developments in cloud data technologies and recommend adoption of new features or tools to advance the data platform.
- Document technical specifications, workflows, and operational guidelines for data engineering processes.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline; advanced degrees are advantageous.
- 6 to 12 years of hands-on experience designing and deploying solutions within the Azure ecosystem.
- Proficiency with Azure services including Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Machine Learning, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse, and Power BI.
- Experience working with big data technologies such as Apache Spark and Hadoop.
- Strong understanding of cloud computing principles and managing cloud infrastructures.
- Knowledge of network and data security concepts, including firewalls, VPNs, encryption, access control, compliance regulations, and monitoring.
- Experience within the retail sector is preferred.
- Relevant Azure certifications like Azure Data Engineer Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert are desirable.
