About the Role
The Systematic Commodities Trading division focuses on crafting advanced quantitative strategies for all commodities and derivatives handled within the Global Commodity Group. This team specializes in generating alpha and providing liquidity to optimally serve clients and partner teams.
This Associate position in the Cross Asset Commodities Trading team involves researching and deploying strategies across energy, metals, and agriculture markets. An in-depth comprehension of relevant infrastructure and industry sectors across these commodities is required. The role demands close collaboration with teams in banking, sales, trading, risk management, and research to deliver extensive client engagement, supplying market insights and transactional ideas tailored to clients' objectives in risk mitigation, hedging, or commodity financing.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and cultivate critical client relationships within energy, metals, and agricultural commodity sectors.
- Exhibit expertise in infrastructure and industry domains relevant to multiple commodity asset categories.
- Collaborate with banking, sales, trading, risk, and research teams to ensure holistic client service.
- Offer market intelligence and propose transactions aligning with clients’ risk management, hedging, or commodity financing strategies.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in commodity trading, structuring, or origination covering energy, metals, and agricultural asset classes.
- Proven history of establishing and nurturing significant relationships with key market participants in various commodity sectors.
- Proficiency in Python programming.
- Strong analytical mindset with capability to conceptualize trade ideas and cross-asset themes.
- Comprehensive technical knowledge and profound understanding of commodity products and market structures.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities with clear and logical thinking.
- Collaborative team player capable of leading diverse stakeholders through deal processes.
- Demonstrated success in negotiating and executing structured commodity deals across asset classes.
