Role Summary
As an Operational Risk Manager in the International Consumer (Chase DE) Risk team, you will act as a crucial element of the second line of defense by independently evaluating and challenging operational risks at business unit, regional, and legal levels. You will collaborate closely with business and control functions to identify new risks, implement remediation strategies, and nurture a culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to impact operational risk management across a developing international consumer banking framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage in change management and new business initiatives to assess risks, critically evaluate the control environment, and advise on approval decisions.
- Conduct detailed reviews of emerging risk areas or possible control gaps to detect issues requiring business remediation; document findings and collaborate with stakeholders by entering issues and action plans into the firm's system.
- Execute independent second-line operational risk assessments for Chase DE’s business units, regional, and legal entities using qualitative and quantitative techniques.
- Support the design of risk-based testing procedures and oversee the implementation of such tests.
- Prepare and present materials for regional control committees and forums to communicate outcomes of operational risk activities.
- Encourage uniformity and adoption of best practices related to significant legal entity matters through necessary collaboration.
- Foster a robust operational risk management culture by working with the business and second-line functions to continuously enhance processes that support safe growth and informed risk-based decisions.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Experience in Retail or Digital Banking in areas such as Risk Management, Compliance, Audit, or Control Management.
- Exceptional written, verbal communication, and presentation capabilities.
- Self-driven, inquisitive, and motivated mindset.
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to detect process and control vulnerabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills.
- Adaptability to change and ability to drive transformation.
- Competence in managing multiple priorities and thriving in fast-moving environments.
- Eagerness and ability to learn in evolving contexts while achieving results.
