Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Associate: Project Manager to join our expanding team in Cork, focusing on the successful management and delivery of complex healthcare and education facility projects in the Cork and Munster regions. This role involves leading projects through all phases— from business case development, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, to project handover—ensuring they are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and meeting top quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage healthcare and education construction projects through all stages of their lifecycle.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams including design, engineering, cost management, and specialist consultants to ensure collaboration and project success.
• Serve as the primary client liaison, fostering strong relationships with public sector bodies, contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
• Develop and maintain detailed project execution plans, delivery schedules, budgets, procurement strategies, risk registers, governance frameworks, and reporting mechanisms.
• Provide leadership on project governance, proactively managing risks, issues, decisions, and opportunities.
• Monitor project progress and take corrective actions to ensure compliance with scope, budget, programme, quality, and risk requirements.
• Lead procurement activities following Irish public sector procurement rules and contract frameworks.
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout project delivery.
• Mentor and support junior project managers and team members, fostering a high-performing and collaborative environment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and best practice development within the project management team.
• Support business development activities including client engagement, proposal preparation, and tender submissions, aiding in the growth of AECOM’s Project Management services in public sector markets.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, or a related field.
• Professional membership with a recognized body such as Chartered Engineer, Chartered Surveyor, or Chartered Builder.
• Extensive experience managing complex capital projects, preferably within construction consultancy, with a strong track record in healthcare, hospital, education, or public sector building projects.
• Expertise in project governance, programme management, procurement, contract administration, cost and risk management.
• Proven ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and manage multiple stakeholders including clients and statutory authorities.
• Profound knowledge of public sector client requirements and procurement regulations.
• Strong commercial acumen with capability to oversee budgets, programme timelines, and overall project success.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated proactive, collaborative approach with the ability to manage competing priorities efficiently in complex environments.
