The stores actively support local pet welfare by collaborating with shelters, rescues, and charities through adoption events, pet food bank programs, donation drives, and fundraising efforts.
Position Overview
The Assistant Store Manager plays a key role in coaching and developing the store team to deliver exceptional service to customers while assisting pet owners in finding the appropriate nutrition and products for their pets. This role offers an opportunity to grow professionally in a pet-focused retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all customer service standards are upheld by team members and maintain positive relationships within the community, including organizations like the Humane Society.
- Recruit, schedule, train, assign daily tasks, supervise, and coach the store staff effectively.
- Ensure compliance with corporate operational standards and procedures by all employees.
- Manage administrative functions such as order placement, inventory control, store and safety audits, coordinating minor repairs, and completing corporate paperwork.
- Lead store staff efforts to meet and exceed business targets.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
- At least two years of experience in customer service and retail store management.
- Strong interest and enthusiasm for learning and advancing within the pet care industry.
- Outgoing, friendly personality with excellent customer service skills.
- Flexibility to work scheduled hours including weekends and evenings.
- Reliable transportation to and from the store.
- Ability to observe, coach, and provide feedback on sales techniques and customer service quality.
- Capacity to identify and manage inter-team conflicts appropriately.
- Proficiency with Point of Sale (POS) systems.
- Physical ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly.
- Relevant industry experience is considered an advantage.
