Position Overview

As an Assistant Store Manager, you will lead and nurture your store team to deliver exceptional customer experiences while helping pet owners find the best products for their pets' needs. This role offers the opportunity to grow within a passionate, pet-focused environment and become a key member of a top North American pet retail brand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all customer service standards are upheld by the team and maintain positive relationships with local community organizations such as the Humane Society.
  • Lead and manage staff activities including recruitment, training, scheduling, supervising daily tasks, and providing ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Guarantee adherence to corporate operational standards and procedures by all store employees.
  • Oversee administrative duties like processing orders, inventory management, completing store and safety audits, handling minor repairs, and fulfilling corporate documentation requirements.
  • Coordinate team efforts to achieve sales and business goals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support store operations.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • At least two years of experience in customer service and retail store management.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for learning and advancing within the pet care sector.
  • Outgoing and friendly personality combined with strong customer service skills.
  • Availability to work scheduled hours, including weekends and evenings, with reliable transportation to and from the store.
  • Ability to observe, coach, and provide constructive feedback on sales techniques and customer service practices.
  • Capability to manage inter-team conflicts effectively and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) systems.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
  • Previous experience within the pet industry is considered an asset.
