Job Overview
The Assistant Store Manager will lead the store team in delivering outstanding customer service and guiding pet owners to the right nutrition and care solutions. This role offers management training, product knowledge exposure, employee discounts, competitive remuneration, paid benefits, and a pet-focused career environment.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the team meets customer service standards and maintain positive community relations, such as with local humane societies.
- Lead recruitment, scheduling, training, supervision, and coaching of store employees.
- Guarantee adherence to corporate operational standards and procedures by all staff.
- Manage administrative duties including ordering, inventory control, store and safety audits, minor repairs coordination, and corporate paperwork completion.
- Drive the team to achieve business targets and objectives.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Requirements
- At least two years of customer service and retail store management experience.
- Keen interest in learning and advancing within the pet care industry.
- Friendly and outgoing personality with strong customer service skills.
- Availability to work during weekends and evenings as needed.
- Reliable transportation access to commute to the store.
- Ability to coach employees on sales techniques and delivering excellent service.
- Competence in managing interpersonal team conflicts and escalating when necessary.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Capability to repetitively lift up to 50 pounds.
- Pet care industry experience is considered an asset.
