Role Overview

The Assistant Store Manager will lead and mentor the store team to achieve exemplary customer service, ensuring pet owners receive expert guidance on pet nutrition and care solutions. This position offers an engaging environment catered to pet enthusiasts eager to grow within a leading pet retail company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure team members meet all customer service standards while fostering positive community relations, such as connections with local humane societies.
  • Oversee employee management including recruitment, scheduling, training, task delegation, supervision, and coaching.
  • Guarantee operational standards compliance per corporate policy across all staff activities.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as order processing, inventory oversight, store and safety audit completion, minor repair coordination, and corporate paperwork.
  • Drive store staff collaboration to meet sales and performance targets.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support store operations.

Candidate Requirements

  • At least two years of experience in customer service and retail store management.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop within the pet care sector.
  • Friendly, outgoing disposition coupled with strong customer service capabilities.
  • Ability to maintain consistent attendance, including working weekends and evenings.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the store location.
  • Skill in coaching employees on sales strategies and superior customer service delivery.
  • Competence in recognizing and managing inter-team conflicts, escalating issues when needed.
  • Familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) systems.
  • Physical ability to repetitively lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Previous experience in the pet industry is advantageous.

Compensation

The starting wage is $21.10 per hour.
