Job description
Overview
The Assistant Store Manager plays a key role in supporting the Store Manager by managing daily retail operations, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction, and driving sales performance. This position also involves stepping in as Manager on Duty when the Store Manager is not present.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with overall store operations and direct management of staff.
- Support merchandising activities, including stocking and unpacking daily deliveries.
- Deliver excellent customer service and effectively handle escalated customer concerns.
- Train, mentor, and guide employees to foster their professional growth.
- Manage cash handling responsibilities and perform opening and closing procedures as required.
- Delegate daily tasks among team members and maintain a clean, safe store environment.
- Carry out frequent performance assessments and provide constructive feedback.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
- Uphold visual merchandising standards throughout the store.
- Participate in staff hiring and oversee employee performance management.
Qualifications and Requirements
- At least two years of experience in retail settings.
- Minimum two years in supervisory or managerial positions.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts including days, evenings, and weekends.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with strong communication and decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently in a dynamic, fast-paced retail environment.
