Overview

The Assistant Room Service Manager plays a key role in ensuring exceptional guest experiences by supervising the room service team within the food and beverage department. This position involves upholding hotel and Kempinski standards through courteous, professional, and efficient service, while focusing on sales growth and profit maximization. The role is designed to develop the incumbent into the Room Service Manager position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the Room Service Manager and oversee the performance of Supervisors, Order Takers, and Waitstaff.
  • Maintain punctuality and adhere to the hotel's dress code and grooming standards, setting a professional example for the team.
  • Assist in managing operational costs and expenses of the room service outlet while ensuring top-quality service delivery and driving revenue.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the work environment at all times.
  • Act as Manager on duty in the absence of the Room Service Manager and facilitate outlet meetings as needed.
  • Thoroughly understand the outlet’s concept and participate in training initiatives under the Room Service Manager’s guidance.
  • Grasp the department's monthly profit and loss statements and assist in preparing reports for monthly performance reviews.
  • Engage in upselling all menu items and provide suitable alternatives to enhance sales.
  • Coordinate communication within the outlet, attend daily and weekly meetings with culinary teams, and promote teamwork for continuous improvement.
  • Participate actively in staff meetings, departmental and hotel trainings, and implement learnings.
  • Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system competently as assigned.
  • Organize daily task checklists and delegate station duties according to schedules.
  • Report disciplinary incidents promptly to the Room Service Manager.
  • Support supplier relations and assist with scheduled inventory checks of products and equipment.
  • Respond effectively to guest inquiries and complaints, ensuring timely follow-up with the department heads.
  • Ensure compliance with opening and closing procedures of the outlet.
  • Serve as Food & Beverage Duty Manager during absences of senior management.
  • Assign tasks to team members based on a multitasking approach and monitor their performance regularly.
  • Attend daily and weekly Food & Beverage meetings in the Room Service Manager’s absence.
  • Adapt to additional duties and changes as required by hotel management and business needs.
