About the Role
The Chief Accountant plays a critical role in managing the financial operations of a hotel, focusing on maintaining accurate general ledger accounts and producing detailed financial reports. This position involves overseeing financial compliance within the hospitality sector, guiding the accounting team, and partnering with senior management to sustain sound cash flow, internal audits, and budgeting processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring precise balance sheet reconciliations.
- Compile comprehensive monthly financial statements adhering to Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI) standards.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, income auditing, and cashier functions to improve cash flow and working capital efficiency.
- Prepare and submit local tax filings, including VAT, sales, corporate, and payroll taxes, ensuring strict adherence to relevant regulatory requirements.
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard hotel revenue, verify accuracy of daily income audits, and identify discrepancies against budget forecasts.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor the accounting team while managing the timely and accurate processing of monthly payroll.
- Collaborate with department heads to address financial queries and support operational decision-making.
