Job description
Position Overview
The Assistant Restaurant Manager is responsible for ensuring effective teamwork among staff to deliver excellent service and meet guest needs at all times. This role involves supervising staff grooming and attire, managing opening and closing procedures including setup and cleaning, overseeing storage organization using FIFO methods, conducting inventories, and handling maintenance repairs.
Key Duties
- Facilitate smooth teamwork to guarantee superior service and guest satisfaction.
- Check staff appearance daily and address any issues.
- Carry out opening and closing tasks such as preparing supplies, cleaning tools and areas, and securing the premises.
- Monitor storage spaces for orderliness, cleanliness, and adherence to inventory rotation.
- Complete regular stock checks and request necessary supplies.
- Supervise dining room operations including seating, service quality, guest safety, and comfort.
- Report maintenance needs and create work orders as required.
Leadership and Compliance
- Support management with recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, assessing, coaching, disciplining, and motivating restaurant staff.
- Act as a role model promoting fair treatment and open communication with employees.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations, report hazards or accidents, and complete required safety training.
- Maintain professional appearance and confidentiality standards and safeguard company property.
Guest Relations and Communication
- Greet guests warmly following company protocol and anticipate their needs.
- Provide assistance to guests with disabilities and express sincere appreciation to all visitors.
- Use clear and professional communication skills both verbally and with colleagues.
- Build positive relationships within the team to foster collaboration and address employee concerns effectively.
Operational Excellence
- Uphold quality standards and identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, productivity, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct visual checks on equipment for defects and ensure workplace readiness.
- Perform physical tasks including standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, manipulative motions, and navigating various physical environments.
Additional Details
- Education required is a high school diploma or equivalent G.E.D.
- Preferred experience includes a minimum of 5 years in related roles and at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
- No licenses or certifications are mandated.
