Job description
Overview
Raigmore Hospital's Acute Adult ANP/ACP Service invites applications for Band 4 Assistant Practitioners (APs) to augment their skilled and established team. The service supports multiple specialties such as Hospital at Night, General Surgery, Trauma & Orthopaedics, Frailty, General & Acute Medicine, as well as Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC).
Role Details
This role demands physical and emotional resilience to deliver both clinical and administrative support to Medical and Nursing teams. Responsibilities include performing minor clinical procedures—like venepuncture, cannulation, and catheterisation—assisting medical interventions, and supporting emergency and cardiac arrest teams. The position requires flexibility to work across day, evening, and weekend shifts.
Candidate Requirements
- Completion of a relevant healthcare qualification at SCQF level 7-8 or above, such as an HNC/D or Level 8 PDA.
- Possession of at least three National Qualifications, including English and two others equivalent to Standard Grade passes.
- Strong communication skills with proficient written and spoken English.
- Recent acute hospital experience within the last two years that relates to an Assistant Practitioner role.
- Evidence of completion of Mandatory Induction Standards or an equivalent certification if trained outside NHS Scotland.
