Role Summary

This permanent part-time position of Domestic Assistant is based within Hotel Services at University Hospital Ayr (UHA). The role entails providing comprehensive domestic services in a healthcare environment, including but not limited to meal assistance, beverage provision, and bed making.

Working Hours

The post requires 25 hours per week, scheduled Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Deliver a varied range of domestic services to support clinical areas in line with NHS Scotland's National Cleaning Services Specification.
• Comply with Healthcare Environment Inspectorate Standards and Facilities Monitoring Tool Targets.
• Operate independently and collaboratively within a team environment to maintain high service standards.
• Use industrial cleaning equipment and materials safely and efficiently following training.
• Uphold organisational policies including confidentiality under Caldicott Guidelines.
• Follow departmental procedures for safe systems of work, risk assessments (including COSHH and moving and handling), infection prevention, and waste management.
• Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to linen bagging and security policies.
• Report concerns or incidents through Datix and participate in job shadowing during induction.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Good communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, and practical aptitude are essential.
• Ability to work on own initiative and effectively as part of a team.
• Experience with industrial cleaning equipment or healthcare settings is advantageous but not mandatory; full training will be provided.
• Attendance at mandatory corporate induction and completion of required learning modules.
• Commitment to undertake all departmental training necessary for flexibility across domestic service areas.

Additional Information

• The role requires legal entitlement to work in the UK. Visa sponsorship may be considered on a case-by-case basis where criteria are met; however, sponsorship is not available for Band 2 posts.
