Job description
Job Overview
This role involves assisting in supervising restaurant operations, including Restaurants, Bars, and Room Service if applicable. The individual supports menu planning, ensures sanitation standards are upheld, and provides floor assistance to servers and hosts during busy meal times. The goal is to consistently enhance both guest and employee satisfaction and to identify training needs and implement corresponding plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Support management and guidance of restaurant staff, address employee questions and concerns, and monitor performance standards.
- Offer feedback on service behaviors and assist in overseeing daily shifts and backup supervision in the absence of senior managers.
- Participate in meetings to communicate departmental objectives and drive results.
- Ensure availability of appropriate supplies, equipment, and uniforms for employees.
- Coordinate with kitchen and management on food quality and service issues.
- Ensure compliance with restaurant policies, standards, and local alcohol regulations.
- Manage operational goals to meet or surpass budget targets.
- Open and close restaurant shifts and perform duties typically expected of restaurant staff when needed.
- Engage with guests to collect feedback, oversee staffing to meet service and operational needs, and handle guest complaints with prompt resolution.
- Promote excellent customer service within team guidelines and review guest satisfaction results.
- Lead ongoing employee training, establish clear performance expectations, and coach employees consistently.
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders via various channels and analyze situations for problem-solving.
- Assist on the floor during peak service periods and recognize quality in product presentation.
Candidate Profile
- High school diploma or GED coupled with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in food and beverage, culinary, or similar fields; OR
- A 2-year degree in Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related discipline with at least 2 years’ relevant experience.
