Job description
About the Role
This role involves supporting daily general ledger operations, assisting clients in understanding these processes, and performing key accounting tasks such as account balancing, ledger reconciliation, reporting, and resolving discrepancies.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and execute assigned accounting projects and tasks.
- Implement and monitor audits of Accounting SOPs across the property.
- Ensure compliance with fraud and collection laws applicable federally and at the state level.
- Generate accurate and timely reports and presentations.
- Analyze information to assess and resolve problems effectively.
- Compile, code, categorize, audit, verify, and tabulate financial data.
- Balance credit card ledgers and verify group contracts, including credit checks when necessary.
- Develop and prioritize specific goals to meet performance, budget, and team targets.
- Submit reports punctually, ensuring deadlines are adhered to.
- Document profits and losses accurately and keep tax records current and compliant.
- Maintain strong accounting and operational controls to safeguard company assets.
- Complete period-end functions timely.
- Guide other departments on accounting and budgeting policies while promoting efficient financial resource use.
- Demonstrate current accounting knowledge, including return check, gross revenue reporting, write-off, and consolidated deposit procedures.
- Utilize computer systems and software to create financial spreadsheets, set up functions, and process data.
- Ensure activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and standards.
- Lead and motivate accounting teams with effective communication, integrity, and by setting an excellent example.
- Manage deadlines, delegate tasks, and maintain an open-door policy to promote visibility and accessibility.
- Foster a productive work environment respectful of cultural diversity.
- Oversee customer service quality and employee satisfaction processes.
- Support employee development through mentoring, coaching, and training, especially on accounts receivable posting techniques.
- Handle various communication methods to provide information to colleagues and supervisors.
- Exhibit strong organizational skills, effective listening, self-confidence, energy, enthusiasm, and conflict management abilities.
- Make collection calls when necessary.
Candidate Profile
- A bachelor's degree (4 years) in Finance and Accounting or a related field with no required work experience, OR
- An accredited 2-year degree in Finance and Accounting or related field plus a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in finance or accounting.
