Job description
Overview
The Dual Property Financial Controller serves as the strategic financial leader for the properties, overseeing the implementation of finance strategies aligned with brand and property goals. This role actively develops plans to meet or exceed brand and customer expectations, ensuring service strategies and initiatives are financially successful while optimizing return on investment. The controller crafts and executes comprehensive business plans to support overall property and brand objectives, focusing on the effective execution of financial operations and achieving strong financial results.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze financial figures and market developments to forecast sales versus expenses and prepare annual budgets.
- Monitor actual sales compared to projections and find ways to enhance profitability by assessing costs and benefits and exploring new business opportunities.
- Examine variations between budgeted wages and forecasts to improve budget accuracy.
- Deconstruct financial data to uncover core principles and insights, applying creative and pragmatic solutions to launch new business plans.
- Safeguard competitive advantages by promoting sound financial and business decisions.
- Establish strong accounting controls to protect assets and increase operational efficiency and profitability.
- Implement risk management controls to mitigate business risks.
- Lead and inspire accounting teams by communicating strategic objectives clearly, assigning responsibilities with appropriate authority, and ensuring accountability for performance.
- Support property financial strategies, ensure timely and accurate reporting, document profit and loss statements correctly, and address audit issues promptly.
- Manage compliance with tax regulations, standard operating procedures, and oversee internal and external audits.
- Communicate effectively with key stakeholders, including owners and executive management, to understand their perspectives, ROI expectations, and keep them informed on financial matters.
- Ensure cross-training of team members, administer policies consistently, and provide orientation and training to new hires tailored to their job roles.
- Develop personalized development plans to nurture employee growth based on their strengths, needs, and career goals.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance and Accounting or a related field with at least 2 years relevant experience, OR
- Master's degree in Finance and Accounting or related area with no prior work experience required.
