Assistant Editor – Mathematics

Role Overview

We are seeking recent graduates enthusiastic about remaining connected to scientific research to join our editorial team as Assistant Editors. This full-time, in-office, entry-level permanent role is based at our Toronto office and focuses on assisting researchers worldwide in publishing their latest academic findings.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with managing the editorial workflow for academic journals specializing in mathematics and related areas.
• Coordinate the peer review process for submitted manuscripts and facilitate editorial decision-making.
• Manage email correspondence among authors, reviewers, and editors involved in the publication cycle.
• Collaborate closely with editorial and production teams to ensure smooth operations.
• Ensure timely and consistent publication of scholarly articles adhering to quality standards and deadlines.

Qualifications and Experience

• Required experience includes prior publications in peer-reviewed academic journals.
• Possession of a Master's degree in relevant disciplines such as Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, Probability/Applied Probability, Mathematical Physics, Mathematical Modelling, Numerical Analysis, Operations Research, or Computational Science.
• A PhD in any aforementioned fields is considered a valuable asset.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong teamwork orientation within dynamic, international environments.
• Exceptional attention to detail paired with an ability to understand overarching goals.
• Effective organizational and time management capabilities.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Experience in scholarly publishing, scientific or technical writing, and creating presentations is advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary offered ranges between 54000 and 60000 Canadian dollars annually, dependent on experience and qualifications. Additionally, a comprehensive company benefits package is provided.

Training and Growth Opportunities

Selected candidates will receive thorough on-the-job training overseen by assigned tutors lasting approximately six months. Work assignments will align with the individual's academic background or research interests. While prior editorial experience is not mandatory, familiarity with academic publishing processes is beneficial.
