Key Responsibilities

• Support the Chief Steward in managing the stewarding department, overseeing recruiting, training, and evaluating team members.
• Supervise daily dishwashing, kitchen cleaning, and sanitation ensuring strict compliance with health and safety standards.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with procurement of supplies, equipment, and cleaning chemicals.
• Perform routine inspections of kitchens, storage, and equipment to uphold cleanliness and order.
• Work closely with the culinary team to align service requirements and maintain sanitation during events and meal times.
• Create and deliver training sessions for new personnel focused on cleaning procedures, safety standards, and equipment handling.
• Contribute to budget preparation and management, maximizing cost efficiency without sacrificing quality.
• Promote a positive team environment by encouraging collaboration and clear communication.
• Promptly address operational challenges and guest concerns to maintain high service standards.
• Keep updated on the latest trends and advancements in stewarding techniques and hygiene practices.

Qualifications and Experience

• High school diploma or an equivalent qualification; a degree in hospitality management or similar is desirable.
• At least two years of experience in stewarding or comparable roles, ideally within a luxury hotel or resort context.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities capable of inspiring and guiding a diverse staff.
• Thorough understanding of health and safety requirements pertinent to food service and kitchen maintenance.
• Skills in managing inventory and controlling costs effectively.
