Asset Manager - On-Road & Infrastructure

This position involves overseeing the On-Road and Infrastructure asset portfolios, ensuring they are maintained and improved with a sense of kaitiakitanga—guardianship for present and future generations. The role is based in Te Anau, a serene town serving as the gateway to Fiordland National Park, offering a unique lifestyle close to nature and outdoor activities.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead and manage planned and condition-based maintenance programs for a large and complex asset portfolio.
• Manage budgets associated with the portfolio, including annual plans, multi-year forecasting, and input on capital project total ownership costs.
• Steer asset management projects from initial business case development through to completion, ensuring proper resourcing, scoping, and reporting.
• Promote and uphold a strong safety culture among your team and contractors, aligned with the Health & Safety at Work Act 2015.
• Mentor and develop team members, including apprentices and technicians, while also planning your own growth alongside theirs.
• Provide occasional out-of-hours support and be prepared to work from remote sites as needed.

Candidate Profile

• Over 10 years of experience managing assets, preferably within a complex and asset-intensive environment.
• Proven expertise in maintenance planning at a significant scale.
• Experience working with or managing Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems such as Maximo, SAP, or similar platforms.
• Strong communication skills and confident stakeholder management abilities, with trust earned across both internal teams and external partners.
• A proactive, hands-on approach coupled with a passion for continuous improvement.
• Solid project management skills.
• Genuine commitment to conservation and preservation of natural environments and cultural heritage.
