Job Overview
As an Assembler I based in Kancheepuram, India, you will be responsible for carrying out assembly operations by adhering strictly to standard operating procedures to ensure high-quality products, maintain safety, and meet daily production goals. Reporting directly to the Production Supervisor or Assembly Manager, you will work onsite following the designated schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute assembly tasks on components, sub-assemblies, and finished goods by following approved work instructions, drawings, and SOPs.
- Operate assembly tools, jigs, fixtures, and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Adhere to prescribed process flow, cycle times, and takt times to optimize production.
- Ensure assembled products comply with quality standards and customer expectations.
- Conduct self-inspections and perform quality checks during the assembly process.
- Detect, document, and report any defects, deviations, or irregularities encountered during assembly.
- Assist with corrective and preventive measures aimed at reducing defects and minimizing rework.
- Meet daily production targets while maintaining production efficiency.
- Keep precise production records including traceability documentation and check sheets.
- Contribute to line balancing and initiatives to improve productivity.
- Follow all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations, safety procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workplace in line with 5S standards.
- Immediately report any unsafe conditions, near misses, or incidents.
- Participate actively in Lean, Kaizen, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and cost reduction activities.
- Support root cause analysis and implementation of improvements.
- Offer suggestions to boost productivity, quality, and workplace safety.
Candidate Requirements
- Professional experience of 2 to 5 years as an Assembly Technician or Assembly Operator.
- Possess an ITI certificate or Diploma qualification.
- Familiarity with assembly procedures, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and standardized work instructions.
- Basic understanding of quality principles and inspection practices.
- Proficient in manual assembly operations and tool handling.
- Flexibility to work in shifts as per production schedules.
- Physical capability to stand for prolonged periods during shifts.
Preferred Experience
- Exposure to automotive, electronics, electrical, heavy engineering, or general manufacturing industries is advantageous.
