Job description
Work Location and Project Duration
The position is based in Nairobi, Kenya at the U.S. Embassy. The project is expected to last 36 months with potential for follow-on work within the Department of State program.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive architectural and construction quality assurance management and technical oversight for the Nairobi CAA project.
- Conduct technical inspections and monitor the contractor's quality control program.
- Review project drawings, specifications, and design narratives to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Confirm that contractor work aligns with design documents and project specifications.
- Observe onsite construction activities to verify proper installation, forming, and execution of construction elements.
- Perform quality assurance by inspecting contractor work, ensuring corrective actions are taken as necessary, and verifying material compliance.
- Oversee construction contractor’s quality assurance and safety programs.
- Track construction progress against the project schedule and provide weekly progress reports with recommendations based on technical reviews and field inspections.
- Review engineering shop drawings and contractor submittals for contract compliance and coordination with other disciplines.
- Prepare detailed construction reports identifying issues, evaluate contractor’s remedies, and propose solutions to the Project Director.
- Work on site to U.S. standards and perform other duties as assigned by the Project Director or Contracting Officer's Representative.
Requirements
- Hold an accredited architecture degree with a minimum of seven years’ experience on construction projects comparable in scope and value.
- Design office experience will not count towards required experience.
- Preferably possess overseas construction project experience.
- Familiarity with International Codes and Construction Safety regulations such as EM 385-1-1 and OSHA is essential.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word is required.
Clearance and Eligibility
This position requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance at the Secret level with Top Secret eligibility due to contracting with the U.S. government.
Travel
Travel is required for this role.
