About the Role
The College of Sciences at Massey University, located on the Manawatu campus in Palmerston North, is recruiting a full-time, permanent Academic Administration Team Lead. This role involves managing a group of academic administration professionals to provide excellent support for the college's academic programs and governance operations. The position blends leadership duties with expert administrative responsibilities, focusing on executing essential academic functions, aiding student achievement, and ensuring services are accurate, timely, and compliant with university policies.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of academic administration personnel.
- Offer expert advice on academic administration workflows and systems.
- Facilitate academic governance matters including committee support and curriculum oversight.
- Manage student records to ensure prompt and precise administrative services.
- Handle complex cases and exceptions, and drive process enhancements.
- Participate in admissions, manage undergraduate and postgraduate administration, placements, and other specialized academic functions as needed.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will bring substantial academic administration experience, preferably within tertiary education, with a dedication to providing excellent services and effective team leadership. They must demonstrate exceptional organizational ability, multitasking skills, and a collaborative approach to liaising with various stakeholders. A strong grasp of academic procedures and quality assurance is essential, along with proven capacity to operate in dynamic environments and foster continual improvements.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Relevant background in academic administration, ideally in a higher education setting.
- Understanding of academic qualifications, course structures, program development, and quality assurance standards.
- Documented leadership experience including team development.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and proven ability to cultivate productive relationships.
- Experience managing projects and balancing multiple initiatives at once.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with university administrative systems and protocols is advantageous.
- Relevant tertiary qualification is preferred.
- A commitment to professional growth and continued learning.
