Role Overview

Massey University's distinguished School of Nursing invites applications for two Senior Lecturer positions, one located at the Wellington campus and one at Manawatū campus, commencing January 2027. This full-time role combines nursing expertise, particularly in primary mental health, with academic responsibilities to foster the next generation of healthcare professionals by integrating clinical theory with practical application.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with an experienced team to design and update contemporary nursing curricula for undergraduate and postgraduate offerings, emphasizing clinical and cultural safety.
• Deliver instruction across diverse nursing subjects including professional nursing, mental health, and evidence-based practice.
• Engage proactively in nursing research to enhance the body of knowledge and improve health outcomes for patients.

Candidate Profile

• Current Registered Nurse holding a valid annual practicing certificate.
• PhD or equivalent doctoral qualification in nursing or a related discipline.
• Clinical and educational expertise complemented by strong cultural competency.
• Effective communicator with multidisciplinary teams.
• Experienced in curriculum development and adept with blended educational methodologies including online teaching platforms.
• Active engagement with the nursing sector, community and iwi partners, and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrable research experience with national publications in nursing or health fields.
• Capable of mentoring junior academic staff and participating meaningfully in research projects.

The position involves interactions across all age groups, and candidates must comply with the Vulnerable Children Act 2014 and associated safety check regulations for working with children.

Compensation

The salary range for Senior Lecturer Range 1 (2026) is NZD 107,916 to 132,892, with the final offer reflecting qualifications and experience.
