About ALS and the Role

We are currently seeking a proactive and well-organized Warehouse Officer to join our Metallurgy division at our Balcatta site in Western Australia. This is a permanent, full-time position reporting directly to the Site Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of sample storage including receiving submissions, retrievals, packaging, assigning storage locations, disposal, and handling return-to-client procedures.
- Operate gas, electric, or reach-truck forklifts safely to load and unload pallets and samples.
- Prepare and repackage samples with correct labeling and secure packaging, ready for storage or dispatch.
- Maintain precise data entry and management in SIM/LIMS, EMS, and Excel systems.
- Perform regular sample inventories ensuring accurate, up-to-date records.
- Coordinate with Metallurgy personnel regarding sample storage needs.
- Interact professionally with clients, including preparing quotations and monthly invoices related to storage, disposal, and returns.
- Ensure the warehouse remains clean, safe, and well-organized.
- Effectively manage daily workload to complete tasks safely, accurately, and punctually.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Possession of a current forklift license (gas and/or electric); reach truck experience is highly desirable.
- Previous relevant experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or sample handling.
- Physical capability to perform manual labor including repetitive sample packaging and repackaging tasks.
- Exceptional data entry skills with meticulous attention to data accuracy.
- Familiarity with inventory or laboratory management software like SIM and EMS, plus proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational skills with effective prioritization and time management abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for fluent liaison with internal teams and external clients.
- Experience in preparing quotations and invoices considered an advantage.
- Dedication to maintaining a safe, clean, and organized working environment.
- Understanding and commitment to Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) management systems alongside ALS policies and procedures.
