Job description

Overview

We are looking for an experienced VMware Cloud Foundation Administrator to manage and support VMware Cloud Foundation environments within our organization. This role requires in-depth expertise in managing the full stack of VMware SDDC Manager operations, workload domains, infrastructure maintenance, and ensuring high platform availability and performance.

Core Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain VMware Cloud Foundation including SDDC Manager, workload domain configuration, lifecycle management, upgrades, and patching activities.
  • Oversee ESXi host clusters, vCenter Server instances, virtual machines, vSAN storage clusters, and NSX-T networking infrastructure.
  • Perform monitoring of system health, troubleshooting, incident resolution, and problem management across the VMware stack.
  • Implement changes in the production environment following change management procedures and conduct capacity planning to ensure optimal resource allocation.
  • Use automation tools such as PowerCLI and PowerShell scripting to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
  • Support disaster recovery procedures, maintain operational documentation, and participate in audit activities to ensure compliance with security policies.
  • Manage user access permissions and support security and compliance mandates within the VMware environment.

Required Expertise

  • Strong experience with VMware Cloud Foundation administration including SDDC Manager, workload domains, lifecycle operations, upgrades, and patching processes.
  • Proficient in VMware vSphere technologies such as vCenter Server, ESXi, Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS), High Availability (HA), vMotion, and cluster administration.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware vSAN, including storage policies, capacity management, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Thorough understanding and practical skills in NSX-T networking covering distributed switches, routing, network virtualization, and security policy enforcement.
  • Familiarity with incident, problem, and change management processes alongside effective performance monitoring, health checks, and Linux system administration.
  • Strong scripting and automation capabilities using PowerCLI and PowerShell are highly desired.

Preferred Additional Skills

  • Exposure to VMware Aria Operations (vROps), Aria Automation, Aria Logs (Log Insight), Site Recovery Manager (SRM), VMware HCX, Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (TKG), and Kubernetes platform management.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code and automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Python scripting.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and backup solutions such as Veeam, Rubrik, Commvault.
  • Familiarity with Dell EMC storage systems and Cisco networking equipment.
  • VMware certifications and ITIL framework understanding are considered advantageous.

Additional Information

The selected candidate will bring 8+ years of relevant experience with VMware technologies and demonstrate the ability to maintain and optimize a complex virtualized cloud infrastructure. The role demands a proactive approach to monitoring, incident resolution, and automation to ensure continuous platform reliability and performance.
