VMC Machine Operator

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled VMC Machine Operator to efficiently manage vertical machining center operations following detailed process sheets, technical drawings, and work instructions. The candidate will be responsible for the loading and unloading of components, fixtures, and tooling with high precision and care.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate vertical machining center (VMC) equipment in accordance with approved documentation and specifications.
• Correctly load and unload components, fixtures, and tools to ensure smooth workflow.
• Set and fine-tune tool offsets, workpiece offsets, and cutting parameters as needed for optimal machining.
• Conduct in-process inspections using precision instruments like Vernier Calipers, Micrometers, and Height Gauges to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface quality.
• Perform tool changes and fundamental machine adjustments to maintain efficiency.
• Accurately maintain production documentation including job cards and inspection records.
• Keep machinery and work areas clean while adhering to 5S principles, Foreign Object Damage (FOD) protocols, use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and safety guidelines.
• Carry out routine cleaning and preventive maintenance on machines to minimize downtime and prolong equipment life.
• Strive to reduce waste by minimizing rejection rates, rework, tool degradation, and machine downtime.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Solid understanding of VMC machine operation techniques.
• Basic familiarity with Fanuc control systems is advantageous.
• Competency in setting and managing tool and work offsets.
• Ability to interpret engineering blueprints and understand machining tolerances.
• Knowledge of cutting tools and the fundamentals of machining parameters.
• Experience with precision measuring tools and instruments.
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and readiness to work in shift-based environments.
• Previous experience in aerospace components manufacturing or precision machining is a plus.
