Vice President - Software Engineering

About the Role

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering efforts ensuring delivery excellence, security, system resilience, and optimal production performance.
• Convert business and technology strategies into actionable engineering plans, collaborating closely with product, project, and program leaders to align priorities, resources, timelines, and investments.
• Work alongside product, architecture, platform, and delivery teams to shape solutions and make informed trade-offs rather than just executing predefined requirements.
• Define technical direction while reinforcing architectural standards and solution governance.
• Advance platforms through lifecycle management and address technical debt by integrating modern design methodologies where appropriate.
• Enhance software development life cycle, DevOps practices, site reliability engineering, automation, testing discipline, observability, and service ownership to ensure sustainable and reliable delivery.
• Develop engineering teams by managing recruitment, coaching, succession planning, and conducting transparent performance reviews.
• Elevate accountability and technical judgement across your teams.
• Lead incident response during critical scenarios and engage senior stakeholders regarding strategic priorities, trade-offs, progress, risks, and investments.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Proven experience leading software engineering teams across multiple domains or platforms within complex, regulated, security-sensitive, or high-availability enterprise environments.
• Strong engineering judgment capable of balancing architectural quality, reliability, security, business needs, and delivery constraints.
• Background in setting technical direction, leading architecture assessments, evolving platforms, and managing technical debt and operational risks.
• Comprehensive knowledge of software and platform engineering principles including microservices, event-driven architectures, API design, resilience patterns, and observability.
• Hands-on experience with DevOps, site reliability engineering, automation, strong testing rigor, end-to-end service ownership, and incident management.
• Excellent leadership skills to support team growth, hiring, and collaboration with senior technology and business leaders.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, AWS EKS, PagerDuty, continuous integration and delivery pipelines, modern monitoring tools, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
