Role Overview
The Vice President of Data Analysis is responsible for steering QNB’s enterprise-wide analytics initiatives to promote data-informed decision-making across all business units. This leadership role involves managing a team of analysts, designing executive dashboards, establishing KPI frameworks, performing performance analyses, and delivering business intelligence solutions aimed at enhancing profitability, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise analysts, BI developers, and MIS specialists, defining clear performance goals and KPIs.
- Set team objectives (OKRs) aligned with corporate strategy and digital transformation efforts.
- Develop enterprise-wide KPIs and dashboards in line with the Bank’s strategic and financial goals.
- Conduct advanced financial modeling, profitability assessments, and scenario planning to support executive decisions.
- Integrate sophisticated analytics into core revenue streams such as loans, deposits, and fees to optimize results.
- Ensure analytics investments maximize returns and align with strategic priorities.
- Perform cost-efficiency analyses through benchmarking and variance reviews.
- Drive initiatives to improve Net Promoter Score, client retention, and cross-selling analytics.
- Monitor effects of pricing, interest rates, and commissions using dynamic modeling.
- Assess and mitigate financial risks employing key risk indicators and early-warning models.
- Act within delegated authority and monitor team exercise of responsibilities.
- Provide strategic advice to business units by converting complex data into actionable insights.
- Collaborate with stakeholders in retail, corporate, international, and digital banking for tailored reporting.
- Lead marketing, CRM, and product teams’ engagements to optimize campaigns and segmentation.
- Oversee analytics efforts that support customer onboarding, retention, upselling, and loyalty programs.
- Support channel and branch performance analysis, promoting digital adoption.
- Ensure availability of real-time dashboards via self-service BI platforms for business users.
- Conduct quarterly executive reviews backed by insightful reports.
- Forge partnerships with external vendors for benchmark and advanced analytics solutions.
- Address customer queries regarding banking products and resolve related requests promptly.
- Maintain adherence to service level agreements to improve operational turnaround times.
- Build effective interdepartmental relationships to achieve Group objectives.
- Provide accurate data to auditors, compliance, finance, and risk teams as needed.
- Oversee and govern the entire data analytics lifecycle from requirements to delivery and iteration.
- Standardize business metric definitions and create metadata repositories for cross-department consistency.
- Lead cross-functional analytics groups spanning finance, risk, treasury, operations, and compliance.
- Implement analytics frameworks to boost operational efficiency and cost management.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory data architecture and reporting requirements, including QCB, GDPR, and NDCP compliance.
- Review and approve critical business models prior to deployment.
- Collaborate with Data Governance and Quality teams to maintain audit readiness of analytics outputs.
- Adopt and evaluate workflow automation tools integrating analytics with business systems.
- Champion continuous improvement through cross-team initiatives, industry best practices, and innovative thinking.
- Develop learning and growth plans for analytics staff, promoting technical skills and business storytelling.
- Foster a culture of analytics-driven decision-making and knowledge sharing via playbooks and success metrics.
- Lead cross-training programs to expand team expertise and support career development.
- Keep abreast of emerging analytics trends, AI/ML tools, and cloud technologies relevant to financial services.
- Mentor senior analysts in transforming business challenges into data-driven solutions.
- Host forums to highlight high-impact analytics projects and drive data literacy across the Bank.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and resolve team conflicts promptly.
- Identify and support professional development opportunities to prepare staff for leadership roles.
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant data protection, regulatory, and governance standards.
- Participate in audits as the analytics lead, providing required documentation and evidence.
- Implement workflows safeguarding sensitive data and maintain audit trails, access controls, and documentation standards.
- Support risk and regulatory teams with analytics for control self-assessment, risk indicators, capital adequacy, and Basel reporting.
- Manage proper lifecycle and use of analytics models approved at the executive level.
- Align analytics initiatives with Conduct Risk and Data Protection policies.
- Coordinate investigations into data breaches or unauthorized data access with compliance teams.
- Complete mandatory training and participate in internal and external seminars.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive customer and Bank information, sharing only with authorized parties.
- Uphold QNB's professional standards and market leadership reputation.
- Perform any additional responsibilities assigned by management.
- Develop succession planning and capability mapping within the analytics function.
- Encourage an inclusive, high-performance work environment that promotes accountability and innovation.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and talent development of analytic professionals.
- Create and enforce governance policies for dashboard management, metric owners, and release processes.
- Represent analytics on technology and governance steering committees.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Economics, Engineering, or a related field required.
- A Master’s degree or MBA is highly desirable.
- At least 12 years of experience in data analytics, including a minimum of 8 years in senior leadership roles within banking or financial services.
- Proven track record of delivering enterprise-wide BI strategies resulting in measurable business improvements.
