Van Driver

About the Role

TJ O'Mahony, located at Deerpark Industrial Estate, Oranmore, Co. Galway, part of HPC Sales Ltd.—a leading builders provider and home improvement retailer in Ireland—is seeking a full-time Van Driver to become a valuable member of their team.

Responsibilities

• Verify orders and dockets prior to beginning delivery routes.
• Ensure punctual delivery of goods.
• Obtain and return signed proof of deliveries (PODs) timely to the office.
• Conduct daily vehicle and load inspections; report any issues immediately.
• Ensure cargo is properly secured before departure, complying with all Health & Safety and Road Safety regulations.
• Perform multiple drop-offs and branch-to-branch transportation runs.
• Drive varying distances, both long and short.
• Collaborate with the Branch Manager to plan delivery routes and schedules efficiently.
• Handle freight safely and effectively, assisting with loading and unloading as needed.
• Log all necessary vehicle and cargo details, including commodity quantities, accurately in the driver's logbook.
• Foster strong relationships with customers through excellent service.

Requirements

• Possession of a full, clean driving license.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
• Punctuality and reliable time management.
• Self-motivated with the capacity to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Effective problem-solving abilities.
• Good knowledge of local roads and surrounding areas.
• Proficient written and oral communication skills.
