About the Role
USIC is seeking dedicated Utility Locators across the North Shore and Northwest Suburbs, based in Park Ridge, IL. This position offers a starting hourly wage ranging from $21.00 for entry-level locators up to $33.00 for those with extensive locating experience. Our company is a leader in underground utility damage prevention, servicing telecommunications, electric, gas, water, and sewer utilities nationwide. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately and safely locate underground utilities such as telecommunications, electrical, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems.
- Conduct thorough searches in designated areas, marking utility locations precisely, documenting findings, and capturing photographs of each locate.
Working Conditions and Schedule
This is a full-time daytime role that may require working the day after holidays and some weekends due to a 48-hour turnaround on many locates. Overtime, weekend, and on-call shifts, including nights and weekends, may be necessary based on business demand.
Requirements
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions; prior outdoor experience is advantageous.
- Proficient with technology and able to use company-provided equipment effectively.
- Willing and able to work overtime, weekends, and on-call as required.
- Ability to pass a drug screening, as this is a safety-sensitive position.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Physical ability to work in confined spaces, walk, bend, and lift up to 75 pounds.
- Capability to accurately distinguish colors used in wiring and utility marking.
- Ability to read and interpret locate tickets, maps, and blueprints clearly.
- Effective communication skills for interaction with coworkers, customers, contractors, and homeowners.
