About the Role
USIC, a nationwide leader in underground utility damage prevention and infrastructure services, is seeking motivated individuals passionate about outdoor work and public safety to join as Utility Locators in Round Rock, TX. This position offers an opportunity to work independently in the field, locating underground utilities such as telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems with a focus on quality, safety, and efficiency. No prior locating experience is required as extensive training is provided, though experienced locators are welcome to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and accurately identify and mark underground utilities within designated areas.
- Complete required documentation and take photographs of each locate accurately and efficiently.
- Perform daily mark-out services independently using advanced ticket and claims technology.
- Maintain a 48-hour turnaround time for locates; work includes daytime shifts, possible overtime, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties, including nights.
Candidate Requirements
- Comfortable working outdoors under varied weather conditions; prior outdoor experience is advantageous.
- Technologically proficient with ability to use company-provided equipment.
- Available for overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as required by business needs.
- Ability to pass drug screening due to safety-sensitive role.
- Possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Physically able to work in confined spaces, perform bending and lifting up to 75 lbs.
- Color vision sufficient to distinguish wiring and utility markings.
- Capable of interpreting locate tickets, maps, and technical prints.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with colleagues, contractors, customers, and property owners.
