About the Role

USIC, a leading provider in underground utility damage prevention and advanced infrastructure services, is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Utility Locators in Vernon Hills, IL. Our company executes over 84 million utility locates annually across telecommunications, electric, gas, water, sewer sectors and municipalities nationwide. Role Responsibilities

• Safely and accurately identify and mark underground utilities including telecommunications, electric, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems in assigned field locations.
• Thoroughly inspect designated areas to locate underground utilities, document findings accurately with necessary paperwork, and capture photographic evidence of each location.
• Utilize company-issued vehicles to independently perform field work ensuring timely completion of marks within a 48-hour service window, including working after holidays and some weekends as required.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Willingness and ability to work outdoors under varying weather conditions; prior outdoor work experience is advantageous.
• Technologically proficient and able to use advanced locating equipment and ticket management systems.
• Availability for overtime, weekend, holiday, and on-call shifts, including nights.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Physical ability to work in confined spaces and perform duties involving walking, bending, and lifting up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to distinguish utility marker colors for wiring and underground markings.
• Capability to interpret locate tickets, maps, and print documents accurately.
• Effective verbal communication skills for interaction with team members, customers, contractors, and property owners.
• Pass a drug screening due to the safety-sensitive nature of this position.

Compensation

Hourly wage starts at $21.00 for individuals new to utility locating and can go up to $33.00 for experienced locators.

Additional Information

This position operates primarily during daytime hours but may require flexibility for holiday and weekend work availability with a commitment to a 48-hour turnaround timeframe on locates.
