Utility Locator II

About the Role

Join Kanaan Communications, LLC as a Locator II, where your primary responsibility will be to identify and mark both standard and complex underground utilities using flags and paint to promote safe and efficient project execution.

Responsibilities

• Use detection tools to accurately locate underground utilities, seeking input from seasoned Locators when challenges arise
• Interpret utility maps for precise underground identification
• Create detailed documentation for all locate activities
• Respond promptly and professionally to excavation requests
• Maintain clear communication with excavators, utility representatives, and company personnel
• Address challenging locates and assist in identifying critical cable lines as required
• Perform light digging with a shovel when necessary
• Be available for overtime, travel, and on-call/after-hours duties
• Work effectively in all weather conditions

Requirements

• Minimum age of 18 years
• Authorization to work legally in the United States for this employer
• High school diploma, GED equivalent, or comparable work experience
• At least six months of experience in utility locating
• Possession of a valid non-provisional state driver's license with an acceptable driving record

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions

• Frequently operate a vehicle and perform tasks requiring arm elevation, fine hand movements, bending, stooping, standing, walking, lifting up to 55 pounds, and keyboard/mouse use
• Occasionally use portable ladders, work in confined spaces, and climb stairs
