Utility Locator II

About the Role

Join Kanaan Communications, LLC as a Locator II, where your primary responsibility will be identifying and marking both standard and complex underground utilities using flags and paint. This role is essential for ensuring project safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize detection tools to locate and mark underground utilities, consulting experienced Locators when needed.
• Interpret utility maps accurately to identify underground infrastructure.
• Keep detailed documentation of all locate tasks.
• Respond promptly and courteously to excavation notices.
• Maintain effective communication with excavators, utility representatives, and company personnel.
• Troubleshoot challenging locate situations and assist with locating critical cable lines.
• Perform light digging with a shovel when required.
• Be available for overtime, travel, and on-call or afterhours duties as necessary.
• Work effectively under all weather conditions.

Candidate Requirements

• At least 18 years old.
• Authorized to work in the United States for this employer.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of six months experience in locating underground utilities.
• Valid state driver’s license (not provisional) with a clean driving record.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Regularly work alone in remote settings, use arms above shoulder level, operate a vehicle, perform fine hand motions, bend, stoop, stand, walk, lift up to 55 pounds, and use a keyboard and mouse.
• Occasional tasks include using portable ladders, working in confined spaces, and stair climbing.
