About the Role

USIC is seeking dedicated individuals for the Utility Locator position in Rockford, MN. This role involves performing accurate and safe location of underground utilities such as telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems. Ideal candidates are motivated outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy independent, field-based work and are committed to safety and quality. Key Responsibilities

• Perform precise and safe underground utility locating, covering telecommunications, electric, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer lines.
• Conduct thorough area searches, mark utility locations clearly, complete required documentation, and take photographs of each locate for records.
• Operate company-provided vehicles and use advanced ticket and claims management systems to ensure proper mark-out services.
• Adhere to a 48-hour turnaround on many locates, which may require working after holidays, weekends, overtime, and on-call shifts, including nights and weekends.

Candidate Requirements

• Comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions; previous outdoor work experience is advantageous.
• Technologically proficient to handle modern equipment and software required for marking and documentation.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and be available for on-call responsibilities as business needs dictate.
• Must pass drug screening due to safety-sensitive nature of the position.
• Valid driver's license and a safe driving record are required.
• Physical ability to work in confined spaces, walk, bend, and lift up to 75 pounds.
• Color vision sufficient to identify color-coded wiring and underground utility markings.
• Ability to read and interpret locate tickets, technical maps, and blueprints effectively.
• Strong communication skills to interact clearly with coworkers, clients, contractors, and homeowners.

• Starting hourly wage ranges from $21.50 for entry-level locators up to $29.50 for those with significant prior experience.
