About the Role

Join USIC as a Utility Locator and embark on a rewarding career focused on underground utility damage prevention. Known nationwide for our dedication to safety and quality, we serve over 1,400 utility and municipal clients managing more than 84 million locates annually across telecommunications, electric, gas, water, and sewer networks. Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately and safely locate various underground utilities including telecom, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer lines.
  • Conduct thorough searches in assigned areas, marking utility locations precisely, completing detailed documentation, and capturing photographic evidence for each locate performed.

Work Schedule and Environment

This is a daytime, full-time role requiring availability to work overtime, after-hours, weekends, on-call shifts, and holidays based on business needs. A 48-hour turnaround time on many locates is expected, meaning work may occur the day following holidays and sometimes on weekends.

Candidate Requirements

  • Comfortable working outside in diverse weather conditions, with previous outdoor work experience considered beneficial.
  • Competent with technology and able to utilize company-provided devices and software effectively.
  • Will provide a valid driver's license with a clean and safe driving record.
  • Physically capable of working in confined spaces, walking, bending, and lifting up to 75 pounds.
  • Capable of distinguishing colors used for identifying wiring and marking underground utilities.
  • Able to read, interpret, and reference locate tickets, maps, and blueprints accurately.
  • Strong communication skills to interact clearly with colleagues, clients, contractors, and property owners.
  • Must pass a drug screening as this is a safety-sensitive position.

Compensation

Starting hourly pay ranges from $21.50 for new locators to $29.50 for individuals with significant locating experience.
