Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking Underground Utility Locate Technicians who will use technology like computer utility maps and specialized detection tools to identify underground cables, pipes, and utilities. This position ensures excavation safety by preventing damage to underground infrastructure. This opportunity is local with no travel required.
Compensation & Benefits
The pay starts at $21 per hour and increases automatically by $0.50 after 60 days and another $0.50 after 180 days of continuous employment. Key Responsibilities
- Travel to job sites responding to routine requests, emergencies, or relocation needs.
- Use mapping tools alongside locating equipment to identify electric, gas, telephone, and communication lines underground.
- Mark utility locations with paint and flags, communicating critical information to excavation teams or proper authorities.
- Participate in after-hours emergency call rotations when assigned.
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
- While prior utility locating or construction experience is advantageous, it is not mandatory.
- Comfort with outdoor work environments is preferred but not required.
- Computer literacy and a valid driver’s license applicable to the employment state are essential.
- Flexibility to work overtime when necessary to fulfill job duties.
- A positive, proactive attitude is important.
Work Schedule
Full-time hours, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend shifts if tasks cannot be completed during regular hours.
Physical Demands
- Daily driving of 50 to over 200 miles depending on assigned areas.
- Walking and standing for extensive distances (4 to 6 miles) on uneven ground.
- Extended sitting during vehicle operation.
- Ability to lift or move weights up to 50 pounds.
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
