Job description

Role Overview

The Utility Controller will be crucial in maintaining the reliability, availability, and efficiency of utility assets within a manufacturing plant. This position involves coordinating scheduled and planned maintenance, optimizing asset performance, managing budgets related to maintenance, and fostering continual improvement via SAP PM and asset management systems.

The role entails leading technical teams, supporting operational excellence, and collaborating closely with internal teams to ensure utility systems uphold production quality and align with business goals.

Candidate Profile

  • Possess a Bachelor's Degree or HND in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Hold a minimum of five years' experience in utilities or equivalent positions.
  • Have a solid understanding of maintenance planning and execution procedures.
  • Be proficient in SAP EAM/PM software and Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in budgeting, cost control, and optimizing maintenance expenditures is essential.
  • Understand manufacturing approaches and plant maintenance best practices.
  • Familiarity with Health, Quality, Safety, and Environmental standards is required.
  • Strong capabilities in leadership, communication, analysis, and stakeholder relationship management.
  • Experience in carrying out maintenance projects and driving continuous improvements is advantageous.
  • Holding professional certifications in Maintenance, Reliability, or Project Management is considered a plus.

Key Duties

  • Oversee execution of scheduled maintenance for utility equipment while managing expenses.
  • Plan, track, and regulate maintenance needs, budgeting, and related costs.
  • Lead and mentor technical staff to enhance utility maintenance expertise.
  • Coordinate yearly overhauls of utility systems with engineering counterparts.
  • Enhance asset reliability through preventive maintenance and reduction of failures.
  • Assist in developing and managing annual maintenance budgets and plans.
  • Ensure availability of spare parts and materials to support seamless operations.
  • Promote efficient use of BPMS routines to boost asset management outcomes.
  • Maintain utility systems to consistently fulfill product and packaging quality standards.
  • Identify and control utility cost drivers while seeking opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Apply performance management strategies to strengthen accountability and team productivity.
  • Support maintenance enhancement projects and initiatives to boost planning and execution effectiveness.
