Job description
About Your New Role
Located in Skopje, you will oversee the national Tax department, ensuring comprehensive compliance with local and Group tax regulations covering both direct and indirect taxes.
As a strategic business partner, you will collaborate closely with senior leaders and internal departments to identify tax risks, opportunities, and regulatory updates early, translating them into actionable business strategies, procedural improvements, and technological solutions.
You will also lead the development of the Tax team, enhance tax-related processes and controls, and embed a culture of tax compliance throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the principal Tax liaison for senior management, Group Tax teams, and internal departments.
- Guarantee precise and timely fulfillment of all tax obligations including submissions, provisions, reporting, and transfer pricing compliance.
- Continuously track legislation changes, evaluate their implications, and oversee prompt integration.
- Spot tax risks and opportunities promptly, offering clear advice to management.
- Integrate tax considerations into corporate decisions, new business ventures, financial models, investments, and restructuring efforts.
- Convert tax criteria into practical processes, controls, data handling, and IT system solutions in partnership with Finance, IT, Payroll, Legal, and others.
- Drive ongoing enhancements to tax procedures aiming to solidify compliance and minimize manual efforts and risks.
- Lead tax audits and coordinate effectively with tax authorities, external consultants, Internal Audit, and Group Tax.
- Mentor and grow the Tax team, boosting technical skills, business acumen, accountability, and partnership ability.
- Promote tax awareness organization-wide and ensure related departments recognize their tax compliance responsibilities.
Candidate Profile
- Forward-thinking with a knack for anticipating tax changes, risks, and business requirements before they become problems.
- Business savvy with the ability to simplify complex tax issues into actionable commercial advice.
- Analytical mindset geared towards designing sustainable, compliance-driven processes and technologies.
- Strong sense of ownership, managing projects from conception through to execution.
- Proven leadership skills in developing and empowering team members.
- Capability to influence and collaborate effectively across multiple organizational levels and functions.
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or Legal fields; professional certifications like CPA or ACCA are advantageous.
- Fluent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in tax within international settings, ideally within Big4 firms or FMCG multinational companies.
- Experience working in an FMCG company at the national level is considered beneficial.
