About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced UniData/Universe Data Engineer to join our team. This role offers the flexibility of working from anywhere while tackling complex data challenges that power business growth. The successful candidate will possess substantial expertise in UniData/Universe databases, data modeling, and integration methods to build robust and scalable systems.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development and maintenance of integration solutions connecting diverse companies, applications, and business systems.
Create and uphold integrations using data exchange formats such as JSON, XML, EDI, and APIs.
Work extensively within MultiValue environments including Universe, UniData, SB+, and Pick technologies.
Develop Universe/UniData programs, subroutines, and integration workflows to ensure seamless data flow.
Integrate e-commerce platforms with MLM and commission systems to accurately transfer sales, customer, order, payment, and commission-related information.
Design integrations managing commission calculations, qualification criteria, sales hierarchies, distributor/member data, orders, and payout processing.
Build and maintain interfaces linking internal systems to external vendors, payment gateways, logistics providers, and business partners.
Evaluate current data flows to identify and implement improvements for integration reliability and efficiency.
Develop data transformation and mapping logic bridging Universe/UniData structures with JSON, XML, and EDI formats.
Manage APIs and integration endpoints for real-time or batch data exchanges.
Diagnose and resolve integration failures, data inconsistency, interface problems, and production incidents.
Write SQL and Universe queries alongside system commands for data analysis, validation, and troubleshooting operations.
Document technical specifications for interfaces, data mappings, workflows, and integration processes thoroughly.
Collaborate closely with business analysts, application teams, quality assurance, infrastructure personnel, and external partners.
Support testing, deployment, production rollout, and post-deployment troubleshooting of integration solutions.
Ensure consistent and accurate data across e-commerce, commission systems, and external interfaces.

Required Skills and Experience

A minimum of 5 years in Universe, UniData, or MultiValue database development; proven experience in system integration and data interchange.
Prior exposure to e-commerce, direct selling, MLM, or commission-based domains preferred.
Proficiency with Rocket U2 Universe, UniData, or related MultiValue databases.
Hands-on experience within Pick/MultiValue environments.
Strong programming skills in Universe BASIC and UniBasic.
Experience working with SB+ or SB+ applications; familiarity with IRIS BASIC is beneficial.
Solid understanding of JSON and XML data formats.
Skills in EDI and B2B integration implementations.
Experienced in REST APIs and web services for data communication.
Knowledge of data transformation, validation, mapping, and interface handling.
Comprehensive understanding of data flow across multiple applications and business entities.
Ability to write programs, subroutines, test wrappers, SQL-like SELECT queries, and system commands within a MultiValue context.
Experience managing batch processing and providing production support.
Domain expertise in e-commerce and MLM environments.
Familiarity with e-commerce platforms and order management systems integration.
Understanding of MLM/direct-selling commission models, including commission calculation and payout processes.
Experience handling distributor and member hierarchies, qualification rules, sales volume tracking, bonuses, and incentives preferred.
Strong advantage for candidates experienced in connecting e-commerce systems with commission engines or direct-sales platforms.
