Job description
Overview
The Traveling Merchandiser position offers an annual base salary range of $47,000 to $52,000. This is a full-time, Monday to Friday role with work hours generally from 8 AM to 5 PM, although hours may vary depending on business needs. This role requires significant travel, involving 50% to 80% driving, with company provisions including per diem allowances, hotel accommodations when traveling, phone and car allowances, as well as mileage reimbursement.
Primary Responsibilities
- Travel daily within the assigned territory to customer locations using a personal vehicle.
- Implement merchandising plans according to established planograms ensuring optimal store displays and space utilization.
- Conduct thorough assessments to detect critical inventory or display needs and report such issues promptly to management.
- Evaluate customer sales trends to identify underperforming or discontinued merchandise and suggest suitable replacements aimed at boosting sales and profitability.
- Maintain a detailed call routine as prescribed by the Sales Account Manager and communicate weekly updates and guidance.
- Manage and execute the SmartStock program, including ordering, rack setup, and merchandising tasks.
- Identify and minimize out-of-stock situations, ensuring product freshness and adherence to date code standards.
- Address customer questions and concerns expediently and maintain compliance with marketing and planogram standards.
- Spot opportunities to maximize product display impact and ensure accuracy of pricing and product identification.
- Collaborate to resolve customer challenges and perform assigned duties as they arise.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is necessary.
- Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record, dependable vehicle (potentially equipped with snow tires), and valid insurance that meets minimum work requirements.
- Capable of effective communication and following detailed instructions related to store planograms.
- Familiarity with and ability to operate hand-held inventory devices, calculators, and basic computer applications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook.
