Job description
Role Overview
The Transformer Testing Engineer is tasked with executing comprehensive tests on power and distribution transformers. These tests include factory, site, pre-commissioning, and commissioning evaluations, all to ensure conformance with IEC, IEEE, and IS standards alongside project specifications and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out site testing and commissioning of transformers.
- Examine and validate OEM, Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) reports.
- Collaborate effectively with construction, protection, and commissioning teams.
- Compile detailed test reports, checklists, and as-built documentation.
- Adhere strictly to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) protocols throughout testing operations.
- Interface with clients and consultants during inspections and approval processes.
Technical Expertise and Skills
- Proficient with transformer testing instruments and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to interpret test data and perform fault analysis accurately.
- Experienced in coordination on-site and managing documentation control.
- Effective communication skills with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and client representatives.
Eligibility and Experience
- Holds a Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Technology, or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Has typically 5 to 10 years of experience specializing in transformer testing and commissioning.
- Hands-on experience with Extra High Voltage (EHV), High Voltage (HV), and Medium Voltage (MV) transformers.
- Sound knowledge of IEC 60076 and IEEE transformer standards.
- Experience working on substation projects, with preference for Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) or Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS) substations.
