About the Role
Join a globally renowned logistics company, operating in over 220 countries and pioneering cross-border express shipping since 1969. As part of DHL Global Forwarding, Freight (DGFF), a specialist in air, ocean, and road freight, you will gain exposure to standardized and specialized end-to-end transportation solutions for diverse industries worldwide. This role is based in Nairobi, Kenya, where you will manage import and export procedures, ensuring compliance and optimal service delivery aligned with corporate standards and business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize the processes and plans for import/export operations to enhance service quality and efficiency.
- Execute transactional and operational duties related to import/export adhering to applicable regulations and internal guidelines.
- Oversee import/export entries and support necessary operational activities in compliance with current local customs laws and internal standards.
- Calculate duties, tariffs, price adjustments, merchandise weight, and volume for shipments to and from foreign locations.
- Prepare, distribute, and archive required documentation related to import/export shipments.
- Review invoices and shipping documents to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
- Validate shipment entries to meet customer requirements and recommend routine corrective measures when deviations occur.
- Ensure all export, import, and gateway operations conform to company policies and expectations.
- Perform IT-related tasks to keep shipment information current and accurate.
- Collaborate with departments such as customer service, product management, and sales to facilitate operations.
- Communicate with overseas offices to verify shipment details and resolve recurring issues.
- Propose process improvements aimed at boosting effectiveness and efficiency in import/export functions.
Internal Stakeholder Interaction
- Explain relevant job-related policies and procedures.
- Coordinate primarily with colleagues within the same sub-function.
- Build a professional network to enhance organizational and market knowledge.
Management
This role is an individual contributor position without direct supervisory responsibilities.
Candidate Profile
- Holds a Bachelor's Degree or possesses equivalent qualifications or experience.
- Possesses less than two years of relevant experience.
