Job description
Position Summary
The role of the Trainee Davenport Operator involves the precise setup, operation, and upkeep of multi-spindle turning machinery, especially Davenport machines, to manufacture precision components. This position demands mechanical skill, thorough attention to detail, and the capability to decode complex engineering drawings. Supervised by the Production Manager, the operator ensures consistently high standards in quality, safety, and output.
Key Duties
- Set up and operate Davenport multi-spindle turning machines according to production demands.
- Install suitable tooling and prepare materials ahead of production runs.
- Address basic troubleshooting and conduct minor maintenance on machinery.
- Handle various materials such as Aluminum, 17-4 Stainless Steel, and specialty alloys including Inconel 718 and A286 carefully to prevent damage or contamination.
- Interpret and analyze technical drawings and specifications in both metric and imperial units, with emphasis on geometric tolerancing.
- Measure and inspect finished pieces to ensure compliance with design and quality standards.
- Document production data accurately and keep proper records as mandated.
- Follow safety protocols diligently and uphold a tidy, organized workplace in line with 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
- Collaborate with the Production Manager and team members to streamline workflow and tackle production challenges.
- Communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing.
