Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled and motivated STMS Traffic Management Operator to join our Queenstown team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality traffic management delivery for both reactive and scheduled works in the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute traffic management programmes timely, maintaining required quality and industry standards.
• Oversee traffic management for CCTV, jetting, and other scheduled operations.
• Coordinate equipment and workforce to optimize resource use and reduce downtime.
• Work closely with Traffic Management Coordinator and Team Leader to manage assets and assignments efficiently.
• Ensure traffic management compliance for network inspections and operational activities.
• Collaborate with various Veolia departments to support scheduling and meet contractual commitments.
• Assess programme performance and identify opportunities to enhance scheduling, resource distribution, and service delivery.
• Maintain a customer-focused, professional approach while managing local roads and state highways.
• Be willing to work occasional night shifts as required to support network operations.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Current and valid STMS qualification.
• Minimum of three years experience in traffic management operations.
• Comprehensive knowledge of New Zealand traffic management standards applicable to local councils.
• Understanding of traffic management frameworks for state highway authorities.
• Experience providing traffic management services directly to clients or customers.
• Ability to adapt effectively to varying traffic management requirements.
• Proficiency with traffic management tools and equipment.
• Strong communication, coordination, and relationship-building capabilities.
• Sound skills in analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making.
• Confidence to exercise independent judgment and work with autonomy.
• Proactive mindset and strong teamwork orientation.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and excellent customer service.
• Flexibility for occasional night shift work.
