Trade Assistant - Mechanical Fleet

Position Overview

We are seeking a mechanically inclined Trades Assistant to join our Fleet team based in Hendra, Brisbane. This full-time, workshop-centered role offers the opportunity to work hands-on with a diverse fleet of over 400 vehicles, plant, and equipment. The successful candidate will be integral in preparing vehicles, installing accessories, supporting maintenance efforts, and ensuring our fleet remains operational and road-ready.

Key Responsibilities

• Install roof racks, toolboxes, and various vehicle accessories
• Carry out basic wiring tasks including beacon installation
• Assist Mechanics with vehicle repairs and routine maintenance
• Perform minor vehicle modifications and fit-outs
• Prepare vehicles and equipment for deployment
• Support daily workshop and storage area functions
• Operate independently after gaining sufficient training and confidence

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• Strong mechanical aptitude combined with a practical, hands-on approach
• Experience handling hand and power tools
• Genuine interest in vehicles, machinery, or equipment
• Possession of a current unrestricted manual driver's licence
• Ability to work autonomously and demonstrate initiative
• Reliable and proactive work ethic

Preferred but not mandatory:

• Experience in auto electrical work
• Forklift licence
• MR or HR truck licence
