Electrical Engineering Estimator

Key Responsibilities

• Carefully analyze tender documents, drawings, technical specifications, and client requirements to prepare thorough pricing submissions.
• Generate comprehensive cost estimates and pricing schedules to support competitive commercial tender bids.
• Request and assess quotations from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring accurate cost inputs.
• Identify, document, and communicate potential risks, opportunities, assumptions, and exclusions related to projects.
• Develop tender methodologies, work program outlines, and other relevant supporting documentation.
• Manage the entire tender process, from initial document receipt through to successful submission and handover.
• Engage closely with project managers, engineers, design managers, and other stakeholders to confirm proposals are technically sound and commercially compelling.

Qualifications and Skills

• Formal qualification in Electrical Engineering, a related engineering discipline, or substantial experience from an electrical trade background.
• Proven expertise in estimating, tender creation, project delivery, or project control functions.
• Capability to accurately interpret electrical plans, drawings, and scope of work documentation.
• Strong commercial understanding and experience in preparing detailed and precise cost estimates.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word for documentation and analysis purposes.
• Effective communication and the ability to manage relationships with various internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working on Queensland utility and electrical infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with Energex Large Customer Connection projects.
• Expertise in estimating for HV and LV electrical infrastructure.
• Involvement with substation projects, contestable works, renewable energy installations, or BESS deployments.
• Working knowledge of Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Project, and electronic estimating tools.
