Role Overview

The Total Rewards Director at AutoStore is responsible for overseeing and advancing the company’s global compensation and benefits structures. This leadership role ensures programs remain competitive, equitable, scalable, and aligned with the organization's strategic direction. The position includes designing compensation frameworks, incentive plans, annual merit increases, and supporting workforce economic analysis.

Executive Compensation Governance

This role manages executive compensation programs by developing, administering, and reviewing base salaries, short-term and long-term incentive plans, and retention strategies. They collaborate closely with the CHRO, CFO, CEO, and Remuneration Committee to provide governance, market insights, analytics, and align reward practices with shareholder expectations and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct executive compensation program structures including salary, incentives, and retention policies.
  • Align executive reward approaches with business goals and market competitiveness in partnership with senior leaders.
  • Support Remuneration Committee meetings with materials, analysis, and governance documentation.
  • Perform executive compensation benchmarking and interpret market, investor, and governance trends.
  • Manage annual executive compensation reviews, incentive outcomes, and employment terms.
  • Ensure adherence to executive compensation regulations and disclosure requirements.
  • Govern global compensation and benefits programs including job architecture design.
  • Oversee salary benchmarking, pay structures, internal equity, and market competitiveness.
  • Manage incentive, bonus, and performance-based reward frameworks.
  • Lead annual merit increase processes.
  • Collaborate with Finance, HR business partners, and leadership on workforce economics and planning.
  • Maintain compliance with compensation governance and regulatory standards.
  • Own employee wellbeing and total rewards strategy development.

Qualifications

  • 8 to 12+ years experience in compensation, benefits, rewards, or workforce strategy, preferably within global corporate settings.
  • Expertise in supporting Board-level compensation and Remuneration Committee operations.
  • Strong familiarity with executive compensation designs including short- and long-term incentive plans.
  • Proven experience in executive compensation benchmarking and market trend analysis.
  • Understanding of public company governance and shareholder disclosure obligations.
  • Ability to synthesize and present detailed compensation analyses to executives and boards.
  • Experience with company-wide compensation structures, benefits, and incentive programs.
  • Competency as an HRIS subject matter expert supporting compensation and rewards processes and reporting.
  • Strong analytical, commercial acumen and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience crafting rewards strategies in competitive sectors such as technology, software, automation, robotics, or engineering.

Locations

Possible work sites include locations in Norway (Oslo, Stavanger, Nedre Vats), Germany (Ulm, Berlin, Hamburg), Austria (Vienna, Graz), France (Lyon), United Kingdom (London), or United States (Salem, NH). Candidates should express willingness to relocate if applying from other locations.
