Rheinmetall Weapon Munitions UK Limited is part of the Rheinmetall Group's Weapon and Ammunition Division and is setting up one of Europe's most modern manufacturing facilities for large calibre weapon systems in Telford, known as the "UK Gun Hall" project.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and build tooling assemblies according to engineering drawings, setup sheets, and bill of materials.
- Calibrate and preset tooling using Zoller presetters, verifying parameters like tool length, diameter, and offsets.
- Inspect tooling conditions for wear, damage, and runout using precision measuring instruments.
- Maintain tooling assemblies and identification systems according to standards.
- Manage tooling inventory using KARDEX-Shuttles, including ordering, receiving, and maintaining stock accuracy.
- Keep tooling records updated in SAP and Exapt databases.
- Perform minor tooling modifications such as grinding, milling, or fitting when necessary.
- Support CNC operators during machine setup and initial production runs.
- Troubleshoot tooling problems and suggest process improvements to extend tool life and enhance productivity.
- Collaborate with Work Preparation, Maintenance, and Production teams on continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain cleanliness and uphold 5S workplace organization standards.
- Adhere rigorously to Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience as a Tool Setter or role requiring knowledge of CNC machines, including turning and milling technology.
- Skilled in assembling and measuring tools, preferably with experience using Zoller presetting equipment.
- Competent in interpreting technical specifications, engineering drawings, work instructions, and testing procedures.
- Familiarity and comfort with various IT systems such as Exapt, Zoller, and SAP, alongside standard office software.
- Understanding of cutting tool geometry along with appropriate feeds and speed settings.
- Willingness to work within a multi-shift roster.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong technical aptitude, motivation, discipline, dedication to continuous improvement, and attention to detail.
- Enthusiastic about contributing to the setup of a new production site for large calibre weapon systems in Telford.
